Great ideas are sometimes born in mysterious ways, and for the Spark Triathlon team, it all started with a conversation between Marie Myszkowski and Walter Ballard.

“I mentioned my brother does triathlons, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to start doing,” Walter recalls. “From there, we talked about participating in a triathlon together; more people said they would do a triathlon with Marie and I, and the rest is history.”

From there, the Spark Triathlon Team was born, consisting of Sparklers Marie Myszkowski, Walter Ballard, Leonardo Navarro, Jessica Lough, Stephanie Cohen, Clorissa Comer, Anthony Agbaere, Scott Hess, Michael Aviles, Kelly Roderick, Allison Pavloff, Jillian Meliker and Lauren Jason. Together, they participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training Triathlon on Aug. 30. Through their participation, the team raised more than $28,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity that SMG EVP Tracey Scheppach, whose son has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, also supports.
